Matr1x Fire Creator Secures $10 Million Funding for Mobile NFT Shooter Game

Matr1x Raises $10 Million for NFT Gaming Projects

Matr1x, an NFT gaming company located in Singapore, has secured an additional $10 million in funding for its mobile gaming ventures, as per the firm’s announcement on Thursday. Folius Ventures led the latest A-2 round, with SevenX, a fellow crypto VC firm, serving as a co-lead investor. Other investors included ABCDE Capital, Jambo, Initiate Capital, and Find Satoshi Lab, the creators of Stepn and the upcoming Gas Hero game. This addition brings Matr1x’s total VC funding to $20 million, with Thursday’s round doubling the previous $10 million raise completed in 2022.

“Matr1x has genuine potential in exploring uncharted territory in this industry,” stated Folius Ventures founder Jason Kam. He also added, “It strikes an elegant balance that may help it achieve critical scale, appeal to the mass market, and become sustainably lucrative while sidestepping the Web3 death spiral altogether.”

Matr1x Fire and NFT Collections

Matr1x Fire, the studio’s flagship product, is a mobile first-person shooter game that allows players to choose from a variety of playable characters and compete on five-person teams to eliminate enemies. The game shares a similar aesthetic with Riot Games’ Valorant, with its maps, weapons, and character designs echoing Riot’s competitive title. Matr1x is also planning to build an esports scene around Matr1x Fire, and it has released two NFT collections with a third collection that will act as a membership pass for governance access and revenue sharing of its creator economy, in addition to granting buyers an upgradeable battle pet.

Comparison with NetEase’s Hyper Front

Due to comparisons made by gamers between Matr1x Fire and Hyper Front in early-access videos, there have been concerns regarding potential copyright infringement issues similar to the case where Riot sued Hyper Front publisher NetEase for allegedly copying Valorant, leading to the game’s shut down. In response, Matr1x clarified that Matr1x Fire is more similar to the style of CS:GO, with no special powers or skills for characters.

Matr1x Worldview Stories

Matr1x has begun publishing extensive lore for Matr1x Fire online through its Matr1x Worldview Stories, detailing the game’s world and a war that broke out in the year 2061.

Hot Take: Matr1x’s Unique NFT Gaming Potential

Matr1x’s innovative approach to developing NFT gaming projects, particularly with Matr1x Fire and its NFT collections, sets it apart in the industry. With careful attention to avoiding potential copyright issues and the creation of an immersive game world, the studio is shaping up to be a major player in the mobile gaming space, offering a unique experience for players and investors alike.
