My Neighbor Alice, a popular blockchain game launched in 2021, has made the move from BNB Chain to the new Chromia network ahead of Chromia’s mainnet launch. Developed by Antler Interactive, My Neighbor Alice is an on-chain game that allows players to farm, fish, and socialize in a vibrant environment. The game features an ALICE token on Ethereum and NFT land plots on BNB Chain.
The developers have introduced a bridge from BNB Chain to Chromia, enabling NFT owners to transfer their assets to the new chain and create new Chromia NFTs within the game. According to a press release, players will not be required to pay gas fees or sign transactions while playing on Chromia.
Chromia: A Relational Blockchain
Chromia is described as a “relational blockchain” that combines a decentralized blockchain network with an enterprise-ready relational database. While My Neighbor Alice isn’t currently running on the Chromia mainnet, it operates on an “appnet,” which is a dedicated instance of the blockchain designed for specific decentralized apps (dapps). The Chromia mainnet is set to launch in 2024. In the meantime, the appnet serves as an example of how games and apps will function on the technology.
