In 2023, a total of eight block rewards from the 2010 era were transferred out of wallets for the first time in over 12 years. Two of these transfers occurred on June 26, 2023, and were detected by the blockchain parser Btcparser.com. Both block rewards were obtained on July 12, 2010, suggesting they were owned by the same person.
The first transfer involved 49 BTC being sent to a single address, with the remaining 0.99 BTC sent to another address. The wallets holding these funds have remained idle and the bitcoin has not been spent. The second transfer occurred hours later and all the funds were sent to a single address holding 49.99 BTC.
Interestingly, the corresponding bitcoin cash (BCH) associated with these old coins has not been transferred either and remains idle. The first transfer had low privacy, scoring only 10 out of 100, while the second transfer had moderate privacy with a score of 55 out of 100.
These recent transfers are significantly fewer compared to the spending observed in 2020 and 2021, indicating that sightings of 2010 block reward spends are becoming increasingly rare.
