Mumbai Introduces Metropolis Metaverse to Display Infrastructure Projects
Mumbai, the bustling financial hub of India, has launched the Mumbai Metropolis Metaverse, a platform that offers a 3D and virtual reality experience for users to explore various infrastructure projects in the city and its neighboring areas. This initiative aims to transform Mumbai into a global city by 2025 and provides residents and enthusiasts with a glimpse into the city’s future development.
A Glimpse into the Future of Mumbai
On February 19, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the Mumbai Metropolis Metaverse, showcasing upcoming projects that will reshape the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The platform features key initiatives such as the Mumbai Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor, Mumbai Metro expansion, Coastal Road development, and more.
Fadnavis invited Mumbaikars and lovers of Mumbai to explore the metaverse through social media platforms. The government aims to enhance transparency and citizen engagement by allowing users to virtually monitor the progress of these megaprojects.
Maharashtra Government’s Mobility Transformation
Fadnavis also expressed his commitment to transforming Mumbai’s mobility. He stated that within the next five years, Mumbai will surpass cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Chennai in terms of mobility. The government is focused on ensuring people can reach any destination within 59 minutes.
In addition to the metaverse initiative, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) plans to introduce offline functionality for its central bank digital currency (CBDC), the digital rupee. This will facilitate transactions in regions with limited internet connectivity.
