Layer 1 Blockchain Aptos Resumes Normal Operations After Outage

Aptos, a layer 1 blockchain, has announced that it has resolved an issue that caused a five-hour outage and impacted trading activities. The company confirmed the return to normalcy through a social media post on Twitter. Transactions on the network came to a halt at block 104621314 on October 19, 2023, causing concern within the community.

The development team acknowledged the glitch and assured users that they were working diligently to restore network operations. The exact cause of the incident is still unknown, with some users speculating maintenance while others suggesting a surge in network activity.

Upbit and OKX Temporarily Suspend Trading

The issue led to two digital asset exchanges, OKX and Upbit, temporarily suspending network transactions and deposit/withdrawal services. Upbit informed users about the suspension due to network maintenance and stated that deposits would resume after the maintenance was completed. Similarly, OKX announced network maintenance, resulting in the suspension of APT token deposits and withdrawals.

During this time, Aptos trades at $4.96 with a 1.06% drop in the last 24 hours and a 19.55% decrease in trading volumes.

Aptos Faces Anniversary Hurdle

Prior to the incident, Aptos celebrated its one-year anniversary since its launch. Aptos is a layer 1 network developed by former Meta employees using the Move language to provide faster transactions at lower fees. Similar incidents have occurred recently on other networks such as Theta and Base before returning to normal operations.
