A Bad Actor Moves Millions of Dollars in Crypto Assets
A hacker who targeted the collapsing crypto exchange FTX has recently started moving millions of dollars worth of crypto assets, according to blockchain intelligence platform Arkham. The hacker, who holds over $300 million in digital assets, has moved some Ethereum (ETH) for the first time since 2022. So far, $8 million worth of ETH has been moved using the RailGun (RAIL) smart contract system and the Thorchain (RUNE) decentralized exchange protocol.
The Contents of the Wallet
Arkham’s data reveals that the wallet known as “FTX Exploiter” holds various assets, including $1.7 million worth of Dai (DAI), $3.97 million worth of Tether (USDT), $30,000 worth of USDC, $43,000 worth of Binance Coin (BNB), $42,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC), and $8,500 worth of Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC).
FTX’s Previous Hack
In November 2022, FTX announced that it had been hacked for $383 million. The firm’s general counsel warned traders about the hack and advised against visiting the FTX site due to potential malware downloads. The hacker later consolidated the stolen assets into Ethereum, becoming one of the largest Ethereum whales at the time.
