WLD Token Arrival Spurs Transaction Surge on Optimism: New Milestone Reached
The arrival of the WLD token on the Ethereum layer two (L2) network, Optimism, has led to a surge in transactions. Since its integration with the L2 blockchain, WLD has been recorded in 285,527 distinct addresses, with a total of 887,482 transactions. As a result, Optimism’s daily transfers have reached new heights.
- Optimism’s daily transactions reached 808,942 transfers on July 26, 2023.
- Optimism and Arbitrum, the L2 networks, surpassed the number of Ethereum transactions.
- However, Ethereum processed over a million transactions and outperformed them individually.
- On July 27, 2023, Optimism completed a record-breaking 944,668 transfers.
- Transacting on Optimism is significantly more cost-effective than on Ethereum, with an average transfer fee of $0.334 compared to Ethereum’s $2.
While Optimism has not yet surpassed Ethereum’s daily transaction rate, its L2 counterpart Arbitrum did outpace Ethereum in February. Arbitrum’s transaction growth was driven by high Ethereum fees. Similarly, the launch of Arbitrum’s native cryptocurrency also contributed to its record-breaking daily transfers.

Hot Take:
The integration of the WLD token with Optimism has resulted in a surge in transactions and propelled the L2 network to new heights. With lower transaction fees compared to Ethereum, Optimism offers a cost-effective solution for users. While it has yet to surpass Ethereum’s transaction rate, Arbitrum’s success showcases the potential for L2 networks to outperform the main Ethereum chain in terms of transaction volume.
