Payments to Mt.Gox Creditors to Begin in 2023, Continue into 2024
The trustee responsible for the rehabilitation of the defunct crypto exchange Mt.Gox has announced that payments to creditors will commence before the end of this year. In an email shared on social media, Nobuaki Kobayashi stated that efforts are being made to distribute payouts in cash within the calendar year of 2023. However, due to the large number of creditors and varying types of repayments, some individuals may have to wait until 2024 to receive their payments.
Claimants Can Check Repayment Status Online
Creditors will not receive advance notice regarding the exact schedule of their payments. However, they can check their repayment status, planned remittance amounts, and completed remittance amounts on the MTGOX online rehabilitation claim filing system.

In 2011, Mt.Gox suffered a notorious hack where hackers gained access to wallets containing BTC and stole 850,000 bitcoins. The stolen amount was worth around $500 million at the time.
