Ahmad Wagaafe Hared, along with two co-conspirators, stole digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), from cryptocurrency executives and investors living in Northern California in 2016. The trio would obtain their victims’ personal information and then impersonate them to transfer their phone numbers to a SIM card they controlled. With access to their victims’ email and other accounts, they would then steal their crypto assets. Hared has been ordered to forfeit 119.8 Bitcoin worth $3.09 million, 93,420 Stellar (XLM) worth $12,238, and a luxury car.
