Dominic Williams, the CEO and Chief Scientist of Internet Computer (ICP), recently demonstrated DFinityโs latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation. This demonstration showcased the first-ever blockchain-based AI smart contract, running on the Internet Computer blockchain as a smart contract.
According to Williams, the Internet Computer AI is set to become the heart of the web3, multi-chain world. This is just the first demo of what AI can achieve on the ICP platform.
Internet Computer AI Advancing in Building Phase
The development of Internet Computer AI is part of DFinityโs mission to create a system where powerful Large Language Models (LLMs) can operate as smart contracts on the ICP. The goal is to ensure that these models are tamperproof, unstoppable, and optionally autonomous.
Cognition Labsโ Devin is similar to the Internet Computer AI model but focuses on training other LLMs. Currently, the code for Internet Computer AI is unavailable but will soon be released. The AI runs on DFINITYโs ICP testnet and will be transferred to the public network in the future.
Internet Computer AI Accessing SIMD Data
While the demo showcased the capabilities of Internet Computer AI, there is still work to be done before it is fully implemented. Optimization for the inference engine used by the smart contract AI is yet to be completed. Future demos are expected to highlight an updated ICP AI with improved efficiency, faster speed, and lower gas or cycles.
In addition, ICP plans to give smart contracts access to Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions. This will enhance the speed and efficiency of the system. The launch of Internet Computer AI may also lead to a transition from a 32-bit to a 64-bit environment, increasing the memory limits of smart contracts.
