Revolutionizing the Tattoo Industry: The Potential Disruption of Automated Ink

Blackdot, a high-tech tattoo startup, has launched an automated tattooing platform, a flagship tattoo studio in Austin, Texas, and partnerships with prominent artists. The company’s patented tattooing device reads the skin to assess the perfect amount of ink to apply and can ink any pre-programmed design on any type of skin or body area. The device delivers substantially less pain than a typical tattoo gun. Blackdot aims to standardize the quality of tattoos and prioritize artistry. The development has broken down barriers of geography and medium, allowing customers to have acclaimed artists’ designs inked without needing to travel. Design fees range from $400 to $8,000, with execution fees between $600 and $1,850. Blackdot plans to use NFTs to undergird its royalties system and keep track of limited-edition collections. It also plans to launch a Tradeable Tattoo program and a stablecoin payment option.
