Roblox CEO Calls for Employees to Return to the Office
Roblox, a vocal supporter of the metaverse, is changing its stance on remote work and urging employees to return to the office. The company’s CEO, David Baszucki, stated in a corporate letter that Roblox will implement a hybrid work model, with employees working three days in the office and two days remotely starting in the summer of 2024.
Baszucki explained that virtual workspaces are not yet as engaging and productive as physical ones, although he expressed confidence that they will eventually reach that level. The new policy allows employees to choose whether they want to remain with the company under these conditions by January 16, 2024. However, not all positions will be required to return to the office.
Roblox’s Shift in Strategy
This shift in strategy contradicts Roblox’s previous emphasis on the metaverse concept. The company has frequently used the term in its marketing efforts. It remains unclear whether this change reflects a larger transformation within Roblox or if it is simply an adjustment in their approach to remote work.
Roblox has not issued any public statements regarding this decision. Crypto.news has reached out to Roblox for comment and will update the article accordingly.
