Former Polygon Labs President Joins Optimism
Four months after leaving Polygon Labs, Ryan Wyatt has joined the team at Optimism, a different Ethereum scaling network. He was announced as the Chief Growth Officer for Optimism Unlimited, a newly created subsidiary of the Optimism Foundation. Wyatt will be responsible for building a team to support adoption and development on Optimism across various functions, including business development, marketing, partnerships, and more.
Wyatt described Optimism as having the “best team in all of crypto” and believes there is an opportunity to ramp up non-technical efforts of the Optimism Collective. He was with Polygon Labs from February 2022 until July 2022 when he stepped down. Wyatt said his move was about taking on a new challenge to grow a decentralized network that’s still relatively young.
Jing Wang, co-founder of Optimism, believes that Wyatt’s addition and his plans to ramp up efforts will make a considerable impact. She stated that he can 100x adoption for them, which excites her the most.
Ramping Up Business Development
At Polygon Labs, Wyatt helped court prominent brands to build on the Ethereum scaling network. Asked if he will approach business development and brand adoption for Optimism like he did with Polygon, Wyatt said that some of the same tactics will come into play but plans to encourage growth across communities rather than assemble a large central team.
Optimism’s OP Stack tech is already driving other networks, most notably Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network incubated by Coinbase and launched earlier this year. Wyatt hopes to see more broad adoption around digital item ownership, especially in gaming.
