Ethereum developers have successfully relaunched the Holesky test network after a failed attempt earlier this month. The relaunch took place on Thursday and was deemed a success during a livestream. The developers expressed their satisfaction with the progress made, joking that there will not be a need for a third build.

The digital asset community has praised the efforts put into relaunching Holesky. One user on Twitter, sassal.eth, commended the launch of the largest Ethereum testnet by validator count, stating that it will be instrumental in solving scalability issues.

Holesky testnet is expected to have approximately 1.4 million validators, which is double the size of Ethereum’s current test networks. This will help address scaling issues and support larger smart contract projects.

What Happened?

The launch of Holesky was initially scheduled for September 15th to mark the first anniversary of the Ethereum Merge. However, the process encountered difficulties shortly after its launch due to incorrect data being inputted from parts of the Genesis files.

Ethereum researcher Diederick Loerakker explained that a misconfiguration in the genesis files caused the network to fail. Despite the delay, observers noted that no significant damage was done as this is the purpose of a testnet.

If everything goes according to plan with Holesky, Ethereum is expected to solidify its position as a leader in decentralized application creation by attracting large projects with effective scalability.
