Shocking Hack: Trillions of Shiba Inu Coins Stolen
Recent incidents have shown a worrying trend in cryptocurrency hacks, with cybercriminals exploiting vulnerabilities in platforms to siphon off significant amounts of digital assets. The latest victim of such an attack is the Indian exchange, WaxirX.
Reports have emerged stating that WazirX fell prey to hackers, with Lookonchain, a renowned on-chain tracker, revealing that the cybercriminals managed to loot crypto assets worth a staggering $230 million from the exchange.
- The cybercriminals targeted several cryptocurrencies, including Shiba Inu, Ethereum, MATIC, PEPE, USDT, and GALA. The biggest hit was the theft of over 5.43 trillion SHIB coins, equivalent to a hefty $102 million.
- WazirX’s official wallet address, WazirXIndia, was observed transferring the stolen funds to an unknown address, 0x04b2. Following the breach, the hackers have begun offloading the stolen assets, with over 640.27 billion PEPE coins, valued at approximately $7.6 million, already sold off.

The security breach at WaxirX has left investors, particularly those holding SHIB tokens on the exchange, in a state of distress. This has prompted the Shiba Inu team member, Lucie, to offer her heartfelt condolences to the victims affected by the hack.
