In the latest burn, a total of 9.35 billion SHIB tokens were sent to the burn address, making it the largest burn conducted by the team so far.

The token burn on January 9 caused a significant spike in the daily SHIB burn rate. The burn rate increased by 28,659% within a 24-hour period, marking the highest spike in the burn rate in 2024.
However, the burn rate has since declined, with only over 5.3 million SHIB tokens burned in the last day. There have also been only four burn transactions in the past 24 hours.
Automated Burn System Coming Soon
The Shiba Inu team is planning to implement an automated SHIB burn system called Shibarium in January. This automated mechanism has generated excitement within the SHIB community, with expectations that up to 9.25 trillion tokens could be burned monthly.
