Solana Game ‘Aurory’ Grows with ‘Seekers of Tokane’ and Launches on Epic Games Store

The Latest Expansion of Aurory: Seekers of Tokane

The latest expansion in the world of Aurory, called Seekers of Tokane, is launching on the Epic Games Store. The game is a Pokémon-inspired fantasy battler that incorporates “roguelike” role-playing gameplay. The early access to the game will be available to Aurorian NFT holders and will be released to the broader community in the following weeks.

This expansion introduces an unlimited number of different lands for players to explore using their Nefties, or magical creatures, to battle others found in the environment. This player-versus-environment (PVE) expansion is a first for the game, featuring a “procedural land generation system” that creates unique environments each time a player travels through a portal from Blanche town village.

Similar to a role-playing game (RPG) like Diablo 3, players will navigate new lands, fighting their way through while searching for an exit portal back to Blanche. If a player dies before reaching the portal, they lose any accumulated loot. Seekers of Tokane also brings new features like avatar customization, more controls and elements in PVP Blitz Battles, and a Neftie upgrading system called “The Amplifier.”

Procedurally Generated Content and Game Worlds

Aurory’s executive producer Jonathan Campeau highlighted the beauty of their procedurally generated content. As the world evolves, new biomes and environments will be added to keep things fresh and exciting for players.

The Seekers of Tokane update offers an avatar customization system with 67 different options for free-to-play fans with non-NFT avatars. It also provides more control over PVP Blitz Battles and introduces element strengths and weaknesses similar to Pokémon battles.

Challenges of Building a Blockchain-Enabled Game

Despite its success on Solana, Aurory plans to expand to Ethereum Layer-2 network Arbitrum. However, building a blockchain-enabled game in a web browser has its challenges, particularly related to performance and long load times.

To address these issues, Seekers of Tokane will soon be available on the Epic Games Store. Campeau noted that the difference in experience between the browser and desktop versions is significant.

Hot Take: A New Era for Aurory with Seekers of Tokane

The launch of Seekers of Tokane represents a major milestone for Aurory as it expands its gameplay features and navigates technical challenges. With its move to the Epic Games Store, more players can experience this innovative fusion of RPG elements and blockchain technology firsthand.
