Scam Sniffer Identifies Sophisticated Solana Wallet Drainers
Blockchain forensics firm Scam Sniffer has discovered two major “sophisticated Solana wallet drainers” who have stolen $4.17 million from nearly 4,000 users in the past month.

According to Scam Sniffer, Solana phishing involves direct transfers and takes advantage of vulnerabilities in transaction simulations.
Rainbow Drainer: A Fake NFT Airdrop
A drainer known as Rainbow Drainer was discovered by Scam Sniffer during a phishing incident. It stole $2.14 million from 2,189 users by tricking them into signing a malicious contract during a fake NFT airdrop.
The stolen assets included BONK, ZERO, USDT, and USDC.
Node Drainer: Christmas Phishing Campaign
The Node Drainer began its operations through a Christmas phishing campaign and managed to steal over $2 million from 1,762 users within two weeks.
“One address associated with Node Drainer converted stolen USDC to ETH via AllBridge, making over $1 million in profit,” said Scam Sniffer.
In a hack conducted by Mandiant, a link associated with Node Drainer was also found. On December 25, 2023, alone, Node Drainer stole ANALOS tokens, BONK, and SILLY from victims.
Tactics Used by Wallet Drainers
Wallet drainers often use airdrops on phishing sites to lure unsuspecting users. These users encounter simulated failure messages that lead them to confirm transactions without visible details, resulting in the theft of their assets.
Last year, these wallet drainers stole nearly $300 million from about 324,000 victims.
Phishing Scams on DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo, a privacy-focused web browser, is being used to perpetuate phishing scams. An unnamed individual lost $12,000 to a deceptive 1inch scam advertisement on the platform.
Deceptive DeFiLlama Ad on DuckDuckGo
A fraudulent ad for the DeFi data aggregator DefiLlama appeared on DuckDuckGo. Clicking on the ad redirects users to a malicious site that drains their funds.
