The Partnership
Sui and Karrier One have formed a strategic partnership to integrate advanced telecom services with web3 technology. Sui is making a strategic investment in Karrier One to support the expansion of its Decentralized Physical Infrastructure (DePIN) technology. This collaboration aims to enhance connectivity and expand access to the digital world for underserved populations.
Technical Integration
The partnership will include the integration of DePIN services powered by the Sui blockchain and the launch of a Karrier One Decentralized Wireless (DeWi) network token on the Sui platform. Participants in the Karrier One ecosystem will have the opportunity to earn DeWi tokens for various activities within the network.
Expanding the Karrier Ecosystem
The partnership will introduce a governance token and expand the Karrier ecosystem with utilities accessed and consumed via fungible tokens and NFTs. The implementation will include the sale of universal phone numbers secured by NFTs, prioritizing self-sovereign digital identity and enhancing security.
The Karrier Number System (KNS)
The Karrier Number System will integrate zkLogin, a Sui primitive that enables web3 authentication with web2 credentials. Users will be able to log in with existing credentials to generate a self-custodial wallet secured by zero-knowledge proofs. This integration allows users to transact in web3 using their telephone numbers instead of managing a crypto native wallet.
Boosting Underserved Areas
Karrier One will utilize the investment from Sui to expand its services, including retail radio deployments and innovative mobile phone plans. The goal is to provide vital infrastructure to underserved areas by tapping into unused wireless spectrum. Karrier One aims to monetize these signals and promote inclusive connectivity.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Sui Foundation,” stated Samer Bishay, CEO of Karrier One. “This partnership is a major step towards expanding our influence and reach in telecommunications. Our goal has always been to ensure that connectivity is universally accessible, affordable, and sustainable.”
Greg Siourounis, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, commented, “Our collaboration with Karrier One demonstrates our commitment to using decentralized technologies to build a more inclusive and interconnected future.”
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
This partnership reflects the shared commitment of both teams to the UN SDGs, specifically focusing on Quality Education, Industry, Innovation, Infrastructure, and Sustainable Cities and Communities. Karrier One’s presence at the COP 28 conference showcased their dedication to sustainability and their growing influence globally.
The Future of Decentralized Telecommunications
The partnership between Karrier One and Sui aims to accelerate the deployment of DeWi solutions and contribute to a sustainable, inclusive, and connected future.
