Meeting Between Suriname President and JAN3
There has been discussion on social media about the meeting between President Santokhi and the JAN3 team. JAN3 is a Bitcoin technology company focused on expanding access to Bitcoin and financial freedom worldwide.
Samson Mow, CEO of JAN3, along with COO Ben Van Hool, spent time in Suriname getting to know people in the commercial, banking, and payment services sectors. Suriname Inspired by El Salvador’s Bitcoin Adoption
Suriname’s interest in Bitcoin is partly influenced by the success of El Salvador, which made Bitcoin legal tender in September 2021. Albert Ramdin, Suriname’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, became curious after learning about the advantages of Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador.
After discovering the benefits, Minister Ramdin contacted Samson Mow, who aims to expand global adoption of Bitcoin. On December 6th, the Minister confirmed receiving the Bitcoin strategy proposal from JAN3.
JAN3’s Influence Beyond Suriname
JAN3 and Samson Mow are not only involved with Suriname but also with other countries. Montenegro’s Prime Minister expressed interest in adopting a national Bitcoin strategy and met with JAN3 executives to discuss opportunities and challenges.
In Colombia, President Gustavo Petro met with Mow to explore the application of blockchain technology in healthcare billing. While Bitcoin as a legal currency was not the main topic, the meeting shows the growing interest in cryptocurrency and its potential uses.
