Nova Labs, the creator of Helium Network, has partnered with Telefónica to launch Helium Mobile Hotspots in Mexico. This collaboration aims to improve mobile coverage for select customers in Mexico City and Oaxaca.

The joint solution is based on the OpenWifi standard developed by the Telecom Infra Project. Movistar customers in Mexico can use their SIM cards for authentication to access the Helium Mobile Network. Telefónica monitors hotspot status before granting access and data downloads over the network.
