Tether’s Bitcoin Mining Site: Real or Not?
Tether Holdings Inc., the company behind USDT, announced their new sustainable Bitcoin mining enterprise in Uruguay. Paolo Ardoino, CTO at Tether and Bitfinex, shared a picture of one of their mining sites, stating that it was progressing well. However, some accounts pointed out that the Tether logo in the picture appeared digitally altered. Paolo Ardoino did not respond to these claims.
FotoForensics conducted an Error Level Analysis (ELA) on the Tether logo in the photo, revealing signs of potential digital alteration. The rest of the image did not show any significant indicators of manipulation, suggesting that the containers in the mining site are real.
Bitcoin mining difficulty reached an all-time high, and miners are operating at a loss due to the high cost of mining compared to the spot market price of BTC. Despite the risks, Tether is entering the mining industry, taking advantage of lower activity costs and access to private funding.
