Craig Wright Presents Document Referring to Bitcoin Cash from 2008
In the ongoing Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA) v. Craig Wright case, the defendant has presented a document dating back to 2008 that mentions Bitcoin Cash (BCH). This is significant because BCH was created almost a decade after the document was allegedly written and only gained prominence in 2017. Unlike yesterday’s claim of forgery in Wright’s Bitcoin origin document, this document’s metadata also dates back to 2008, providing no evidence of forgery.
2005 Document with Bitcoin Whitepaper Passages Presented
Additionally, Wright presented a document from 2005 that includes passages from the original Bitcoin whitepaper. However, he admitted to intentionally tampering with the metadata of this document for educational purposes. The defendant also accused his former lawyers of hiring flawed experts, which caused difficulties in earlier proceedings.
The Legal Battle and COPA’s Lawsuit
The legal battle between Craig Wright and COPA began in 2016 when Wright claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin, and sought rights to its intellectual property. In response, COPA sued Wright, aiming for a declaration that the Bitcoin whitepaper is public domain and not subject to individual copyright claims.
