A Reddit user recently lost $250,000 in ether (ETH) after responding to a fake airdrop in an elaborate cryptocurrency phishing scam. The victim had 100 ETH deposited into Aave for lending purposes when they noticed that 100 ETH had been transferred out of their account unknowingly.
The Scammer Transfers 100 ETH to Their Wallet
The theft occurred after the victim interacted with what appeared to be a legitimate Frames airdrop. Unfortunately, the Redditor was unable to recover their lost ETH, which is now worth over $250,000. The scammer’s wallet address has been labeled as “Fake_Phishing270904” to warn other users.
