TON Blockchain Achieves Record-Breaking Transaction Speeds in Stress Test

The TON blockchain has set a new record by achieving 104,715 transactions per second (TPS) during a live-streamed stress test. This milestone was verified and confirmed by Certik, a Web3 smart contract auditor.
TON Blockchain: The World’s Fastest and Most Scalable
The TON Foundation announced that the TON blockchain is now recognized as the world’s fastest and most scalable public blockchain. During the stress test, the TON testnet utilized 256 validators and split into 512 shards under heavy load, resulting in the impressive TPS rate.
This success demonstrates that the TON blockchain can serve as the infrastructure layer for Telegram’s Web3 ecosystem and large enterprises seeking to develop blockchain-based products. Additionally, it positions TON as a global decentralized network capable of disrupting traditional finance.
Surpassing Visa’s Speed and Previous Record Holders
The TON testnet surpassed Visa’s reported speed of transactions, reaching speeds of approximately 100,000 TPS. This far exceeds the previous record of around 65,000 TPS held by another blockchain.
Certik Verification and Alibaba Cloud Infrastructure
CertiK performed formal verifications of the TON blockchain to ensure its stability and security. The stress test was conducted using Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure.
The stress test involved multiple layers of verification and performance monitoring. CertiK authenticated the network’s architecture and ensured uniformity among the validators’ software versions. Transaction counts were fetched at one-minute intervals using TON lite servers to calculate the TPS.

TON’s unique architecture is designed for scalability. It utilizes an “infinite sharding paradigm” to create a blockchain of blockchains. TON can split into numerous workchains and shards, rapidly scaling its capacity based on demand.
