Bitcoin Remains Stuck Below $27K
After a volatile end to the business week, Bitcoin’s price performance over the weekend has been rather dull, with the asset unable to break above $27,000. Altcoins are also trading quietly, with minor gains seen in DOGE and ADA, while SOL is down by about 1%.
BTC Fails to Sustain Momentum
Last week, Bitcoin made several attempts to challenge the $28,000 mark but failed to sustain its momentum. The global uncertainty caused by the Israel-Hamas conflict may have contributed to this. As a result, Bitcoin gradually lost value and experienced significant price drops on Monday and Wednesday. The second drop brought its price to a multi-week low of $26,500.
The bulls managed to prevent further declines and Bitcoin started recovering some of its lost value, briefly spiking to $27,000 on Saturday morning. However, it quickly retreated below that level and has remained there for the past 24 hours.
Bitcoin’s market capitalization remains at $525 billion, but its dominance over altcoins has slightly declined to 49.8% on CMC.
Winners and Losers Among Altcoins
Loom Network (LOOM) has emerged as the top gainer among the top 100 altcoins. It has skyrocketed by 38% in the past 24 hours and over 100% in the past week. Currently ranked as the 72nd largest digital asset, LOOM is trading above $0.35.
Klaytn (8%) and Trust Wallet Token (7%) are the next highest gainers on a weekly basis but are significantly behind LOOM.
On the other hand, several tokens have experienced significant losses in the past week. Mante leads this trend with a 17% drop, followed by Avalanche (-12%), DYDX (-11%), and Conflux (-10%).
The total crypto market cap has also decreased significantly in the past seven days and is currently struggling at $1.050 trillion.
Hot Take: Bitcoin Consolidates Below $27K
Bitcoin’s price remains stagnant below the $27,000 level after a volatile week. Despite attempts to regain lost value, Bitcoin has struggled to sustain any upward momentum. Altcoins have also seen mixed performance, with some experiencing notable gains while others suffer losses.
The market continues to face uncertainty, and Bitcoin’s dominance over altcoins has slightly declined. It remains to be seen how the coming days will unfold for the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
