I must admit, I was initially skeptical about Notcoin. The concept seemed unexciting—you tap on a coin image on your mobile device, earn in-game currency with each tap, and are limited by an energy bar that depletes when you tap and refills when idle. And in the end, you receive an airdrop of an upcoming token based on your tapping skills.
However, to my surprise, three weeks after trying the game for the first time, I find myself still opening it up every morning and tapping away to earn my imaginary internet money.
Notcoin is developed within the messaging app Telegram and is associated with a token launch on The Open Network (TON), which is the original blockchain created by the app. Despite some initial uncertainty surrounding the airdrop, Open Builders, the creator of Notcoin, has confirmed that the token will indeed be launched on TON in late March or early April.
The team behind Notcoin has also introduced an NFT-based voucher system that allows players to convert their in-game currency into vouchers and trade them before the token is introduced. Those who prefer not to participate in the pre-money voucher system can simply wait until their in-game currency becomes exchangeable for tokens.
The Social Aspect and Motivation
Although there isn’t much complexity to the tapping mechanics of Notcoin, what truly captivated me about this seemingly simple game is its social aspect. After setting up my Notcoin Telegram bot, I discovered that a few of my friends were also playing. This immediately fueled my desire to surpass them on the leaderboard.
The global leaderboard categorizes players into different leagues based on their Notcoin farming achievements (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond). Moreover, each player has a ranking within their respective league. Knowing that my friends had higher rankings than me was oddly motivating and pushed me to take my tapping seriously.

Aside from the free boosts, there are also “paid” boosts available. However, these can only be purchased using earned in-game currency, and there is no option to buy currency within the game. This ensures a fair playing field without any pay-to-win elements.
Players must choose between saving their in-game coins for a larger airdrop or investing them in paid boosts to increase overall earning potential. Personally, I quickly spent all of my in-game currency on the available upgrades. (I have reached level 10 for energy—don’t be jealous!)
A Game That Keeps You Hooked
Is Notcoin the best game I’ve ever played? Definitely not. However, it has managed to captivate me with its simplicity, incentives, and social aspect despite its one-dimensional gameplay.
