Solana Outage: Root Cause Analysis Revealed

The recent Solana outage raised concerns about the protocol’s growth, but Solana Labs has now provided a detailed root cause analysis to address the issue. Contrary to speculation of a hack, the outage was actually caused by a “deploy-evict-request cycle” that triggered an infinite recompile loop in the JIT cache. This disrupted the ordered pattern of transactions and led to the duplication of accounting information, clogging the system. Solana Labs has replaced the ineffective cache with a new system called LoadedPrograms to prevent similar issues in the future. The bug was identified earlier and efforts have been made to fix it, including deprecating one Legacy Loader and planning to phase out the second.

Solana Recovery and Price Rebound

Upon discovering the glitch, Solana’s price dropped by over 8%, causing concern for its growth trajectory. However, the coin quickly rebounded and is now trading positively. At the time of writing, SOL has increased by 2.4% in the past 24 hours, reaching $105.13. Despite occasional downtimes, Solana continues to attract investors due to ongoing updates from Solana Labs aimed at preventing future glitches.
