Space Nation Announces Roadmap for AI-Powered Game
Los Angeles-based video game developer Space Nation has revealed the roadmap for its upcoming flagship game, Space Nation Online. The massively multiplayer online game will utilize generative AI to offer players a personalized experience. Founded in 2019 by gaming industry veterans Jerome Wu and Tony Tang, Space Nation is supported by filmmaker Roland Emmerich and media entrepreneur Marco Weber.
Space Nation’s CEO, Jerome Wu, stated that the integration of AI in the game allows for tailored storytelling that adapts as players progress. While the company did not provide specifics about the AI model being used, it claims to use ethically sourced training data. Despite the use of AI, major plot elements will still be created by human writers.
Crew System and Web3 Integration
In addition to the personalized AI experience, Space Nation Online will feature a crew system mechanic that enables players to manage a team of characters with unique skills and roles. These crew members will evolve based on their experiences in the game. Furthermore, each crew member will be linked to a player-owned digital asset or NFT, adding a Web3 element to the gameplay.
The developers emphasized that the combination of Web3 technology and AI makes Space Nation Online an unparalleled gaming experience. Players can expect benefits such as airdrops within the community.
Testing and Launch Plans
Space Nation plans to test the AI integration on Discord this month and aims to launch a beta version in March. The official launch of Space Nation Online is scheduled for fall 2024.
