The series of events began on May 3 when the crypto whale mistakenly transferred 1,155 WBTC to an incorrect address due to address poisoning tactics. Address poisoning, also known as a dusting attack, involves sending a transaction of insignificant value to a victim’s wallet to mark the address in their transaction history. The malicious addresses used in these attacks often closely resemble the victim’s true wallet addresses, making them challenging to detect at first glance.
