Winklevoss Twins Fund Blockchain PAC with $4.9 Million
A super political action committee called Fairshake, which supports politicians who endorse blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, has received a total of $4.9 million in funding from Gemini cofounders Cameron Winklevoss and Tyler Winklevoss. The news was first reported by Bloomberg, citing federal filings that show the brothers donated $2.45 million each. According to the filings, Fairshake had $72.8 million in cash at the time of reporting.
Fairshake, which has raised over $85 million to date, counts the Winklevoss twins among its funders, along with other prominent names such as Andreessen Horowitz, ARK Invest, Circle, Ripple Labs, Coinbase, Payward, Electric Capital Partners, Blockchain Capital, and Jump Crypto. The super PAC gained attention for opposing anti-crypto California Senate candidate Katie Porter.
The 2024 US election will take place in November of this year.
