Deutsche Post Unveils AI-Generated Crypto Stamp Featuring Historical Sites

Order a Unique Crypto Stamp Featuring AI-Rendered Images of Historical Buildings

You now have the opportunity to order a one-of-a-kind “crypto stamp” from Deutsche Post, Germany’s official postal service. This special stamp, set to be released in November, showcases images of historical buildings created by artificial intelligence (AI). The crypto stamp is available for pre-order and will be offered in both physical form and as a non-fungible token (NFT).

Deutsche Post’s Innovative Approach to Stamps

Deutsche Post, a subsidiary of the DHL Group and the successor to Germany’s former state mail authority Deutsche Bundespost, is breaking new ground with its official crypto stamp. It will be available as a traditional physical stamp and as a blockchain-based digital version known as an NFT.

To make this unique offering accessible to collectors and enthusiasts, Deutsche Post is including both the original stamp and access information for the tokenized version in a specially designed booklet. This booklet has been available for ordering since mid-October and has received an overwhelmingly positive response.

A Limited Edition Release

A total of 250,000 copies of the crypto stamp will be issued. This large circulation aims to cater not only to cryptocurrency enthusiasts but also to Germany’s traditional philatelic community, which is one of the largest in the world. The first stamp in the series features an AI interpretation of Berlin’s iconic Brandenburg Gate, displaying a simplified pixelated style commonly associated with the digital world.

Availability and Pricing

The crypto stamp will have a postage denomination of €1.60 and can be purchased from the Deutsche Post online shop starting November 2nd. For those interested in owning both the physical stamp and the NFT, a combo package is available for €9.90. Additionally, 800,000 conventional stamps without the NFT will be issued. It’s important to note that the Federal Ministry of Finance is the official issuer of all Germany-branded stamps.

Crypto Stamps Around the World

Deutsche Post is not the first postal service to embrace crypto stamps. Swiss Post announced in September 2021 that it would offer a similar product to bridge the gap between physical and digital philately. The high demand for the Swiss Post stamp caused their online store to crash upon its launch in November of that year.

Deutsche Post’s introduction of a crypto stamp reflects a growing trend of traditional industries embracing blockchain technology and digital assets. By combining physical stamps with NFTs, they are offering collectors a unique and innovative way to engage with philately. This convergence of traditional and digital realms opens up new possibilities for stamp collecting, attracting both cryptocurrency enthusiasts and traditional philatelists alike.
