Blowfish Studios’ Phantom Galaxies Launches in Early Access
Blowfish Studios’ mecha combat game Phantom Galaxies has been released in early access. A free-to-play version of the Web3-enabled title is available on the official website and the Epic Games Store, while a non-Web3 version can be found on Steam.
Gameplay During Early Access
During the approximately 12-month early access period, players will have access to hours of core story gameplay and exploration from day one. Additionally, there will be PvE multiplayer bounties, PvP battles, and future content updates.
Storyline and Mecha Classes
Phantom Galaxies places you in the role of a Ranger, an elite mecha pilot protecting human colonies on the galactic frontier. Players can choose from four mecha classes—Assault, Lancer, Buster, and Breacher—that can transform between humanoid and starfighter forms at the touch of a button. The game’s storyline involves battling pirate and alien factions across space and planetside locations. Players can also customize their character and mecha using an RPG-style advancement tree.

Blowfish Studios Cofounder and Managing Director Ben Lee said: “We’re launching with the most polished experience, so it’s only a small subset of what the full game experience will be. We plan on being in early access for about 12 months. We’ve got a roadmap of how we’re going to keep building out the game, but already there’s a really unique, fun, and engaging experience there.”
Web3 Functionality
Phantom Galaxies features blockchain integration that allows players to own in-game digital property represented on the blockchain. This includes player Avatars, Starfighters, player quarters, Starfighter hangars, and entire planets—upgradable with structures like marketplaces and refineries. In-game digital property can be purchased using ASTRAFER currency earned through missions, trading items, special events, and managing player-owned planets and asteroids.
