Crypto Exchange Kraken Becomes Registered VASP in the Netherlands
Kraken, the popular crypto exchange, has completed its registration as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) in the Netherlands. This approval from the Dutch Central Bank allows Kraken to offer exchange, transfer, custody, and portfolio management services for virtual assets within the country. This marks Kraken’s fourth European license acquisition, expanding its services to the Dutch market.
Kraken Expands in Key European Markets
Kraken has been strategically expanding its presence in key European markets. In addition to the Netherlands, they have obtained VASP licenses in Spain, Italy, and Ireland. They also offer cryptographic services in Belgium through an authorized subsidiary. Kraken recognizes the vibrant startup and technology sector in the Netherlands and notes that approximately 20% of Dutch citizens own digital assets.
Zakinov vs Ripple Case Outcome Benefits Kraken Users
Kraken recently informed its users about possible monetary incentives or other benefits resulting from their legal victory in the Zakinov vs Ripple case. Kraken had filed a motion to intervene in the case to protect its users’ identities. While the court prevented Kraken from disclosing users’ commercial information, they have been ordered to notify customers who traded XRP on their platform between July 3, 2017, and June 30, 2023.
Users who may benefit from the case have been contacted by Kraken, informing them of the possibility of receiving monetary incentives. This development has been shared by Yassin Mobarak, founder of Dizer Capital, who received an email from Kraken stating that he may be entitled to receive money or benefits resulting from the lawsuit.
