StrayShot Signs Deal with NBA Players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball for NFT Characters

The upcoming battle royale shooter game, StrayShot, has partnered with NBA players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, as well as their family’s lifestyle brand, Big Baller Brand (BBB), to feature them as playable NFT characters. iBloxx Studios, the developer of the game, made the announcement on Thursday. More details about the playable characters will be revealed after the game’s full launch. Currently in public beta, StrayShot is expected to be fully released by December this year or February 2024.

LaMelo and Lonzo Ball NFT Characters

The NFT characters of LaMelo and Lonzo Ball will be dressed in military-style outfits and BBB-branded attire. The studio also plans to release licensed Ball NFTs outside of the game. The playable characters will include other members of the Ball family such as their father LaVar Ball, mother Tina Ball, and youngest son LiAngelo Ball.

Ball Brothers’ Gaming Background

Although it may come as a surprise, the Ball brothers are avid gamers. Lonzo enjoys playing NBA 2K and Madden in his free time, while LaMelo used to play Halo on an Xbox console.

StrayShot’s Use of Blockchain Technology

StrayShot utilizes the Ethereum scaling network SKALE for its blockchain transactions. All major aspects of the game will be recorded on-chain, including in-game items like weapons and character outfits. These items will be represented as NFTs that players can win in-game and later sell. Additionally, StrayShot will offer an ERC-20 token that players can win through tournaments.

Controversy and Relaunch of Big Baller Brand

Big Baller Brand, the family’s lifestyle brand, received an “F” score from the Better Business Bureau in 2018. However, it has since improved its rating to a “C+.” The brand faced complaints, but it was relaunched in 2020 with LaVar Ball claiming it was worth a billion dollars. The company has not commented on the Better Business Bureau complaints or the claimed valuation.

Hot Take: StrayShot Teams Up with Ball Family for NFT Characters

StrayShot’s collaboration with NBA players LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, along with their family’s brand, Big Baller Brand, adds an exciting element to the game. By featuring the Ball family as playable NFT characters, StrayShot taps into their popularity and gaming interests. This partnership showcases the growing trend of incorporating NFTs into gaming experiences and highlights the potential for athletes and celebrities to participate in the crypto space. As StrayShot prepares for its full launch, fans eagerly anticipate further details about the playable Ball family characters and their unique abilities within the game.
